In order for the CIEL applications to function on the Windows Vista operating system it is necessary to follow the next steps:
1. In Control Panel/User Accounts - Turn User Account Control on or off, de-select the Use User Account Control option.
2. Install MSDE 2000 Release A. It can be downloaded by accessing the following link:
http://www.ciel.ro/Utile/MSDE2000A.exe
You will download an archive .exe file. It must be extracted to a directory where you will edit the setup.ini file as follows:

INSTANCENAME=""

DISABLENETWORKPROTOCOLS="0"
SECURITYMODE="SQL"
Then, run setup.exe, the server is installed with the following connection parameters:
User: sa
Password: sa
ATTENTION! It is advisable that, before starting the installation procedure, you check the regional settings of the Windows system, namely:
- in Control Panel / Regional and Language Options, choose the English United States option
- in Control Panel / Regional and Language Options - Formats, chose the English United States option
- in Control Panel / Regional and Language Options - Administrative / Change system locale – choose English United States
Otherwise the MSDE could get installed with a set of characters which is incompatible with the CIEL applications.
3. Once the server has been installed, the CIEL applications will be installed.
On the setuppad.exe from the CIEL application installation kit click the right mouse button, select Properties / Compatibility and choose Windows XP SP2. Further run the applications using setup.exe, «use existing installation» and the connection parameters specified above.
